Wow. It's worth two posts in one day to share this.Picked it up hardcover at a library sale. I love memoir, especially when it involves rising above a crazy family situation. Cathartic to say the least.
The writer said it best when interviewed, "This is a book about family dynamics."
...And I'm finding it of fascinating.

Thank you for your comment. For me volunteering is like breathing - it is something that comes naturally and it does so much for me. The tissue paper flowers sound like an incredible gift for the seniors. They are so cheerful and make such lovely decorations.
The book you have posted sounds good but heavy. Hmmmm-summer reading?
