New Year's Resolutions...

I've never been a resolution type person. I'd loosely consider the past year and figure out those things I could improve upon, or do differently, but that's as far as I'd take it.
Maybe it was the nature of our holiday break this year, but I found myself giving serious thought to the new year. I figured I basically had an open invitation to at least consider the opportunity for possibility that stretched before me. And so I found myself typing a list of "focus;" things I want to accomplish or work on in the upcoming year...Ways I can accomplish what I prayed for as the clock struck 12 on that special eve- May I become a better mother, sister, granddaughter, friend, teacher, coinhabitor of the earth...Person! I divided my list into Body, Mind, and Spirit sections.
As I told Cub's daddy today, I've been wanting to read the bible, cover to cover, since I was a small child. I received my first one from "Santa" when I was around six years old. I fondly remember my father reading stories from the Old Testament to me before bedtime. They both fascinated and horrified me at the same time, but from that early age sprouted a desire to learn more about its contents.
So, I've begun the "The Bible in One Year," lessons that accompany one of the devotionals I receive in the mail, thanks to my dear grandfather.
I won't bore anyone with the details, but now I know that "East of Eden" and "The Land of Nod," are the same place...and that Cain was the first to use the expression, "my brother's keeper," as in "Am I not my brother's keeper?" and thanks to a bit of help from a geography text book, I now know where the Garden of Eden was located and that the Tree of Life and The Tree of Knowledge co-existed there. I underline all the time and take notes in the margins...
I'm super excited about this one. It will surely be an exercise in setting a goal and sticking to it!

Sometimes I think I would marry you if I were a man or vice versa! Hahah. Thank you for inspiring me...especially when I am down!

I think that is wonderful.

Reading the bible, on my own, has been a goal of mine for many years...Going to church when I was younger and *having* to attend catholic school classes made me a little averse to even reading the bible, unfortunately...but, I am finding that is changing, especially since I have had the children...I want to share the bible with them.

Are you familiar with Blauvelt, New York? I had 2 great aunts that were nuns in the convent there. Anyway, I have one of their bibles, and I treasure it.

Eeek..once again, a long one from me. I will be thinking about you as you go back to work! Hope you have a great week!

I always wished I was more familar with and read more of the bible...but that would be a great goal for the new year. I also think maybe not resolutions but things that I think I can work on or try harder at are perfect new year "resolutions.
