Fleur Bleu

Thanks to the sick day on friday...
I have taken one small step towards The Glass Menagerie project idea I've had on my mind for the past few months.

I now have a Blue Rose to sigh at. I only need some floral tape and to find my 20 gauge wire to create a bouquet of what can finally be called Blue Roses.
I am only just beginning to dream here.

This little wallet is the result of my first formal sewing class in almost twenty years!!!

I am so happy I was able to carve out some time to indulge another sort of dream.
Today, I took the basic sewing class at Make Workshop NYC and it was AMAZING!
I loved every single second of the day...From the drive alone (no traffic) into the city...listening to my love Shelby Lynne's first album and Erasure's (debut) Wonderland. Pure heaven. I could turn it up as loud as I wanted because there were no tiny ears to injure...No elfin child to remind me, "Mama, TOO LOUD!"
The city was still sleepy at 11am when I arrived. I even found parking downtown. Wow.
I had the chance to walk around my old 'hood, get coffee and get teary about the changes that have taken place in it and in me.
Life goes on. We go on. It's okay.
Then into the class with my machine. Beautiful lofty creative space.
I was a child again. Sitting with excitement and wonder.
Wanting to know everything. Instantly.
I now know my machine a whole lot better.
I was able to take home something pretty that I made with my own two hands.
It's Amy Butler fabric, too.
Today was My Day.
